ICSAP is an initiative of seven International Religious Congregations working with very vulnerable households in three (3) Eastern African Countries; Kenya, South Sudan and Uganda. The six congregations involved and founders of this initiative are the; Daughters of Charity, Patrician Brothers, Salesian Sisters, Franciscan Brothers, the Jesuits and the Spiritan Fathers.

ICSAP was established and commenced its operations in September 2016 as a one-year pilot project under the oversight management of the Franciscan Brothers as the legal holder. The member congregations are international religious institutes in the Catholic Church that have different charisma but all having an option for and working with vulnerable members of society in different parts of the world besides their presence in the project target countries as stated above.

ICSAP is governed by a Management Board of 6 members that meets quarterly with the membership drawn from the six member religious congregations. A lean coordinating secretariat with a finance officer and project activity coordinator is based in Baraka Molo in the premises of the Franciscan Brothers.

The main goal of the project is to contribute to the achievement of the first 7 United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with a particular emphasis on Goal 2: End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.

The achievement of this overall strategic goal is to be evidenced by an effective and active Inter Congregational Sustainable Agriculture partnership operating at respective partner work stations.

The ICSAP project has two complementary intervention objectives;

• To prove that Religious Congregations can work together for the common good and for the good of target beneficiaries by setting up an inter-congregation working partnership so as to operate from a point of synergistic strength
• To provide support in the promotion of household food and nutrition security targeting

households in respective partner work stations by promoting establishment of household kitchen gardens that provide fresh vegetables to supplement household food and nutrition security.

The eight (8) project sites include: –

• Kitale in Transnzoia County – Kenya targeting 34 households under the management of the Daughters of Charity;
• Kamagut in Uasin Ngishu County – Kenya targeting 22 households under the   management of the Patrician Brothers;

 Baraka – Molo in Nakuru County – Kenya targeting 25 households under the management of the Franciscan Brothers;

• Wenje in Tana River County – Kenya targeting 25 households under the management of the Spiritans;
• Bakhita in Tonj state – South Sudan targeting 25 households under the management of the Salesian Sisters;
• Atiaba in Rumbek State – South Sudan targeting 29 households under the management of the Spiritans;
• Akol Jal in Rumbek State – South Sudan targeting 30 households under the management of the Jesuits and,
• Adraa in Offaka Sub County – Arua District in West Nile in Uganda targeting 50 households under the management of the Franciscan Brothers.
